Philipsburg Beach on Great Bay makes for an easy dip in the azure waters right off the boardwalk. The island is back with more party and more fun!

This Caribbean island is owned by two countries. You'll be charmed by its gingerbread houses, colorful boutiques, and sidewalk cafés.

There are stunning bays and 37 white sand beaches circumventing this pretty and hilly island which makes it ideal for sunning and snorkeling.

Cupecoy Beach is known as the gay beach and has made a big comeback since Hurricane Irma.

Singles can share a double cabin, book a private upgrade, or opt for a budget-friendly crew cabin. You’ll be able to feel the blend of the Caribbean, French and Dutch flavours!

The island is in the northeastern part of the Caribbean known as the Lesser Antilles. Martin is a fantastic place to get your SCUBA (self-contained, underwater breathing apparatus) certification if you haven’t already done so!

History buffs can spend a whole day exploring Fort Louis, Fort Amsterdam and Fort Willem.

Take time to visit the many white sandy beaches, enjoy the underwater life while snorkeling or diving, hikethe rain forest-like mountains, visit the caves, enjoy the wildlife.

If the great outdoors isn’t your thing, enjoy the world class food, fabulous beach bars all over the island, and high class shoppingon Rue de Charles de Gaulle in Marigotand on Front Street in Philipsburg.

Casino Royale had a major refresh after Hurricane Irma. You also might hear it referred to as the French or Dutch West Indies. The border is all but invisible between the two countries. It is where the cruise port is located and has easy access to whatever you want. The limestone cliffs and natural bays lend themselves to privacy and serves as a great LGBTQ+ hangout.

Go au-naturel on Orient Beach which is the largest beach on St.

Martin.

LGBTQ+ travelers will feel welcome although there is not a “gay scene” so to speak. You can move freely between the two countries, though it’s always good to mind the oh-so-cute Gendarmes (the French police) and the Politie (the Dutch police).

Our small, 37 square mile island has over 170 countries represented, though the Caribbean, French and Dutch culturesare the most prominent.

Just be sure to bring your passport!

Gay Scene in St. Martin

As a dual-nation island, acceptance is part of the fabric on this tiny island. St. Martin itself offers a unique cultural mix of French and Dutch influences, with everything from casual beach bars to fine dining, live music, and legendary beaches.

Onboard, comfort comes first.

Gay-Friendly Dining

The French side of the island is known for charming bistros and more upscale cuisine than on the Dutch side.

Enjoy the sun, the white sandy beaches, the overwhelming blue sea and all the fun. The area is rebounding with even more than it had before Hurricane Irma including a whole new restaurant scene.

If the great outdoors isn’t your thing, enjoy the world class food, fabulous beach bars all over the island, and high class shopping on Rue de Charles de Gaulle in Marigot and on Front Street in Philipsburg.

From photos to recommendations to travel tips, we would love to see it all! At night, you’ll find plenty of bars and nightclubs to choose from.

Our final tip is that though SXM is more open than many islands in the Caribbean, because of it’s international appeal, just be mindful in “non-touristy” areas.
