"If you had asked me a month ago what kind of ship I would've liked to see on television, my answer wouldn't have been half as amazing as Agathario is," one fan wrote on Twitter. It’s a show about women cast out from society, trying to reclaim their power. Agatha tries to hide the heart, knowing it means Rio, and instead recruits Sharon Davis (aka Mrs.
Hart) as a stand-in. "We have had these incredible shows which have put queerness to the front of the characters and the plot, and now it's like great, we can have queerness as just [a] part of them."
That fact that Rio and Agatha's interactions are undeniably charged with desire is similarly important, too. She is my scar.” To which Agatha replies by stealing a glance at Rio and immediately saying she needs to go stretch her legs as an excuse to leave the conversation.
Then they added the Teen (Joe Locke) who is established as canonically gay in the second episode when we see his boyfriend call.
Agatha All Along sneaks a lesbian love story into a spooky superhero show – and breaks ground for the MCU
Well, it's official, Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness and Aubrey Plaza's mysterious Rio Vidal were canonically lovers prior to the events of Agatha All Along.
If this theory holds true, Agatha and Rio's shared love for Nicholas would only reiterate the queerness of Agatha All Along by adding a queer family dynamic into the mix, which is something the MCU needs more of.

Episode 4 seemingly denies this theory when Rio tells Agatha that "the boy isn't hers," meaning he's not Nicholas.Rio would probably know it's Nicholas if her true identity is Death (another fan theory), lining up with her implication that Agatha is her scar because she "did her job" and took Nicholas' body when he died.Agatha All Along hasn't explicitly explained why Rio harbors such animosity toward Agatha.
But if a system like that was introduced while it was being developed, might it have even been made at all?
"I'm so proud," Hahn recently told Entertainment Weekly when asked about the show's queerness. Even though the two literally tried to kill each other the last time they saw each other and Rio sent the Salem Seven after Agatha.
Rio soon follows, and the rest is history.
As Sasheer Zamata so eloquently put it in a recent interview with Variety, “Witches are queer, inherently, just because we are outcasts and set aside for many reasons. It's really nice to just have these positive queer characters."
Kathryn Hahn: "What is the most exciting thing about it is, is that's not exactly what it’s about.
It has ghosties and scary moments, sure, but The Haunting of Bly Manor is mostly focused on love and how, even if it's fleeting, it's worth the sorrow that comes with losing it. I wasn't familiar with your gayme," joked one more, while a fourth wrote: "I CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE THIS IS REAL LIFE I AM SHAKING."
You may likeOur collective shock and excitement feels particularly joyful, and Schaeffer, Hahn, and co's obvious commitment to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community especially commendable, when you aknowledge the backlash that such stories still get in 2024 – be them queer or simply female-led.

The next time we see Rio, she crawls her way out of the ground and appears with the coven on the Witches’ Road, immediately conjuring a flower to coyly give to Agatha.
There, she strikes up a fast friendship with the precocious children she's set to look after, as well as cook Owen and housekeeper Hannah.
One example is Agatha Harkness herself, who in Episode 4, almost nearly confirms is queer, most likely bisexual. Despite how much they hate each other, they're still comfortable in each other's presence. Since Agatha and Rio were most certainly lovers in the past, Rio could've grown close to Nicholas -- either as a stepson, or an actual son she and Agatha raised together.
Rio had no choice but to take Nicholas away, but that doesn't mean she isn't angry about Agatha sacrificing him.
