With raging parties and a labyrinthine dark room, there’s a reason Ficken 3000 has become a legend among locals looking for a drink, dance and a flamboyant good time. Think again, my friend.

Located under the round- about housing development at Kottbusser Tor, the mixed (but girl-heavy) crowd enjoy nightly drinks and dancing, as well as many one-off rock parties. Every year, the lesbian and gay street festival takes place here, which marks the start of Pride Week. Today, as one of the few gay bars left in Mitte, Betty F*** remains a favourite for gays, hipsters and fashionistas looking for a kickstart to the evening.
As well as being one of Berlin’s most prized museums, the Schwules has a quiet café for those looking for something more downtempo.
The Mitte neighbourhood also has pockets of LGBTQ+ hotspots including Weinbergpark. But we’ve got you covered. There are also shops along the Bergmannstraße as well as live music venues where LGBTQ+ citizens and visitors meet and have fun. For more about how we curate, see our editorial guidelines.

Berlin has earned its stripes as one of the great gay capitals of the world, with a huge LGBTQ+ community, one-of-a-kind queer bars and an attitude to life that encourages inhabitants to be whoever they please. Pop into one of the rotating exhibitions on gay, lesbian and trans history, peruse the abundant books and magazines stored upstairs, and then chill out over a quiet coffee or beer.
Opened in 2004 on the border between the Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain districts, Berghain has long been known for its techno and minimal techno music scene.
The streets of Schöneberg are lined with exclusive restaurants, high-end shops, and upscale cafes, making it a delightful place to spend a lazy afternoon. In the 1920s, the neighbourhood enjoys a well-deserved reputation for some of Berlin's best nightlife, as well as restaurants, cafés and shops frequented by the LGBTQ+ community in particular.
This relatively cosy spot can get quite packed, but that’s all part of the fun. Over time, this has lent itself to a ton of fantastic club nights, bars and saunas, and new venues are popping up all the time.
Berlin is a city that is always moving forward, often at a lightning pace. Südblock also serves food, ranging from breakfast to midnight snacks.
